Email SupportAdding or deleting an orchid
Add an orchid
- Open Orchid Guardian.
- Tap the plus button or the New Orchid area.
- Choose the orchid species, care goal, pot material, pot size, and potting medium.
- Add a photo if you want a visual baseline. You can also save without a photo and add one later.
- Tap Save Plant.
Delete an orchid
- On the collection screen, swipe left on the orchid card.
- Tap Delete.
- Confirm only if you want to permanently remove that plant and its care history.
Deleting an orchid removes its stored care records from the app. If iCloud sync is enabled, deletion may also sync to your other devices.
Managing care reminders
- Open Settings in Orchid Guardian.
- Turn Enable Alerts on or off.
- Set Daily Care Time to choose when the daily care summary should appear.
- Use Care Guide Tips if you want learning prompts in addition to direct care actions.
If reminders are not appearing
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Go to Notifications, then Orchid Guardian.
- Make sure notifications are allowed.
- Return to Orchid Guardian and confirm Enable Alerts is on.
Orchid Guardian schedules reminders from the care details and history in your collection. Some reminders may change after you log watering, observations, or other care.
Using photos, camera, and light checks
Photos and camera
- You can attach orchid photos when adding a plant or recording some care events.
- Camera access is used only when you choose to take a photo in the app.
- Photo Library access is used only when you choose a photo from your library.
If camera or photo access is blocked
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Find Orchid Guardian.
- Allow Camera or Photos access as needed.
- Reopen Orchid Guardian and try again.
Light checks
- Use Light Check at leaf height where the orchid actually sits.
- Hold the phone steady during the scan.
- Compare the result with the orchid species guidance before moving the plant.
Light checks are guidance tools, not lab measurements. Make changes gradually and watch leaf temperature, color, and posture.
Understanding iCloud sync behavior
Orchid Guardian stores plant records using Apple SwiftData and can sync through the private iCloud account on your devices when iCloud is available.
- Use the same Apple ID on each device where you want Orchid Guardian data to sync.
- Make sure iCloud Drive is enabled in iPhone Settings.
- Give sync time to complete, especially after adding photos or many care records.
- Open Orchid Guardian on each device while connected to the internet.
If data looks different across devices
- Confirm both devices are signed in to the same Apple ID.
- Confirm both devices have iCloud available.
- Close and reopen Orchid Guardian on both devices.
- Wait a few minutes and check again.
If iCloud is temporarily unavailable, Orchid Guardian may continue with local on-device storage so you can keep using the app.
Exporting care history
- Open Orchid Guardian Settings.
- Find the Archive or Export option.
- Export your collection history as a CSV file.
- Choose where to save or share the exported file.
The export includes plant names, care dates, activity types, and notes. Photos remain in the app; exported rows may note when a photo was attached.
The exported CSV is controlled by you. Be careful when sharing it if your notes include personal details.
