Orchid Guardian Privacy Policy

Orchid Guardian is designed to help users care for orchids by storing plant details, care history, reminders, and optional photos. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.

Information the App Handles

Orchid Guardian may store information that you choose to add, including orchid species, variety or nickname, pot and medium details, care goals, care dates, notes, watering and observation logs, light scan records, photos, and reminder preferences.

If you choose to use location-based features, the app may store a town, ZIP code, or device-provided location coordinates for the place where your orchids grow. Camera and photo library access are used only when you choose to capture or attach orchid photos.

How Information Is Used

The app uses this information to provide orchid care reminders, daily care summaries, plant history, widgets, Apple Watch support, and practical guidance based on the plants, care records, local weather, and seasonal context you choose to use.

WeatherKit and Location

Orchid Guardian uses Apple WeatherKit to request current weather for your saved growing place or, if you choose, your device's current location. Weather information may be used to show care notes about heat, cold, dry air, humidity, rain, and seasonal conditions.

When WeatherKit is used, the location needed for the weather request is handled through Apple services. Apps by Randy does not operate a separate weather server and does not sell or use your location for advertising or tracking.

iCloud Sync

Orchid Guardian uses Apple iCloud/CloudKit private database support to sync app data across your devices when iCloud is available. This data is associated with your Apple ID and private iCloud account. Apps by Randy does not operate a separate server for Orchid Guardian app data.

Widgets and Apple Watch

The app may share summary information, plant names, care status, and small photo thumbnails with its widgets and Apple Watch companion features so those features can display current care information.

Data Sharing and Tracking

Orchid Guardian does not sell your data and does not use your data for third-party advertising or tracking. The app does not require a separate Apps by Randy account. Some features rely on Apple services such as iCloud, WeatherKit, notifications, widgets, Apple Watch, camera, photo library, and location permissions.

Exported Files

If you use the export feature, the app creates a CSV file containing plant names, care dates, activity types, and notes. You control whether and where that exported file is shared.

Deleting Data

You can delete orchids and their care histories in the app. You can also manage app data and iCloud data using Apple device and iCloud settings.

Use of Orchid Guardian is also subject to the Orchid Guardian Terms of Use.
